About Bradley
On May 18th, 2006, our son Bradley lost a courageous battle with acute pediatric t-cell Leukemia. In Bradley’s memory, we have established “Bradley’s Buddies Memorial Fund” a non-profit 501(c).Â
Bradley was a healthy and happy boy with sparkling eyes and a contagious smile. On August 19th, 2005, at the age of 9, he was diagnosed with Acute T-cell Leukemia. Throughout his grueling journey, Bradley filled our hearts with love. With humour and a positive attitude, he encouraged us every day even while he underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. Throughout his battle, Bradley truly brought his community together.
Bradley taught us the most important life lessons including living with passion, giving 110 percent in everything, and being loving and loyal to his friends and family. On July 4th, he was honored with the “2006 Wenonah Hometown Legend” award. This unique award recognizes “a person who inspires legends, instills pride, and serves as a role model for the people of Wenonah.”
The mission of Bradley’s Buddies Memorial Fund:
- Raise funds for Childhood T-Cell Leukemia research
- Provide an award for “Good Sportsmanship” in Bradley’s name
- Provide financial assistance to families undergoing treatment for childhood cancer
- Provide other charitable and benevolent activities

Bradley’s Memorial Garden
We are planning a memorial garden and paver walkway to beautify the grounds of Wenonah Public School in honor of Bradley. A dedication of the memorial will be held at the 2nd Annual Bradley’s Buddies 5K Run/Walk on September 30th at Wenonah school.
Bradley’s Buddies Blood Drive
Bradley’s Buddies is supporting the Women’s Club Annual Blood Drive on May 31st by providing callers to schedule appointments to reach the goal of 100 units.
Bradley’s Buddies Family Fund
Our mission includes helping families in New Jersey who are experiencing financial difficulties while they are undergoing pediatric oncology care. We, the Caraker family, were supported by our family, friends, and community during Bradley’s battle with leukemia. It was our experience that not all families were as fortunate as we were. Families not only had to navigate the unknown world of pediatric oncology, they also struggled with making the next monthly household payments. It is common for families to lose one income during crisis, but as care becomes more complicated with bone marrow transplant and palliative care, many times both parents need to leave their jobs. We would like to lighten that burden so that families can focus on their child during one of the most difficult challenges a family will ever face.
Bradley Caraker Good Sportsmanship Award
The Bradley Caraker Good Sportsmanship Award is given to two 6th graders and two graduating seniors who exemplify good sportsmanship qualities. The Golden Rule “Treat others as we would like to be treated”.
- Excels in sports
- Chosen as a leader by teammates
- Shows respect, fairness, and courtesy to others on and off the field
- Shows commitment to academic responsibilities
Congratulations to the 2006 winners:
